About Us
Mox in the Hole has been serving Edinburgh's Gamers since 2021 - We sell Board Games, Wargames, Trading & Collectable Card Games, RPG's and a variety of accessories for them all, both in our Edinburgh shop, and Online. We also run events and tournaments for the games we sell.
The Role
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and flexible Retail Assistant with a passion for customer service. You must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, be self-motivated, and proactive. If you already have an interest in Trading Card Games, Wargames, Board Games, or related hobbies, that’s a bonus – but it’s not essential.
Flexibility is key, as your shift pattern may change from week to week depending on business needs.
Hours & Availability
We are open to flexibility for people looking for a role working between 6 and 40 hours a week, so part of our initial discussions with you would be about the desired number of hours and shifts per week.
Mox in the Hole has staff on site from as early as 9:00am to 11:00pm Monday through Saturday, and 10:00am to 07:00pm on Sunday. A Usual shift is either 10:00am to 5:00pm or 4:00pm to 11:00pm
You will normally be allocated set days, however shift patterns may vary from week to week depending on business needs. In addition to the shifts advertised above, you may be asked to cover other hours not listed, when required by the business.
Responsibilities
Greet and serve customers, providing excellent customer service. Work independently to run the shop during your shifts.
Operate the till, handle payments, and process transactions accurately.
Pick, pack and dispatch postal orders.
Sorting, Inventorying and Filing second hand trading cards.
Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming store environment.
Assist with deliveries, restocking, and merchandising displays.
Publish social media posts.
Running events.
Teaching or Demonstrating games and being able to offer advice to customers.
Skills & Requirements
Essential:
Deliveries can include Large boxes as heavy as 20kg, so you must be able to move these short distances of 2-5 meters. Ability to work independently with self-motivation and initiative but also to work well with others.
Reliability and flexibility with shift patterns, including occasional unlisted shifts.
Strong communication and customer service skills.
Previous retail or customer service experience.
Highly Desirable:
Experience in stock handling or merchandising.
Basic numeracy skills for handling cash and card transactions.
Ability to use Computers and Spreadsheets to manage stock control and product profiles.
Nice to Have:
Interest in Trading Card Games, Wargames, Board Games, or related hobbies.

Store Manager
This role has all the core responsibilities for the store as the retail assistant role, in addition to managerial tasks and leading the team in their day to day tasks to fulfil the goals of the business. Managerial responsibilities will include but are not limited too:
Managing shifts and labour hours to ensure daily tasks are completed.
Inventory management and collating orders for suppliers.
Focusing on the day to day running of the store, with regular strategy meetings to look at longer term goals.
Ensuring customer service queries are replied to in a timely fashion.
Attending events with suppliers to learn about upcoming products.
Operating within budgets set in meetings
Running a team at offsite locations such as card shows.
Candidates will need to have problem-solving skills and be able to take initiative whilst also maintaining company policies
Hours: 40+ a week
Rate of Pay: Starting Rate at £15+ Per hour, with negotiation for candidates with the right experience.
